# Estimate, then check. The review step is the feature.

Photo estimation is a measurement problem, and every app doing it gets some meals wrong. POWR's answer is not a louder claim about accuracy. It is that nothing saves until you have seen the estimate and agreed with it.

## What happens between the photo and the log

Two of these are free and two are POWR Pro.

Every photo

### Nothing saves unreviewed

The estimate arrives as an editable draft: items, portions, and totals, all changeable before it counts. A wrong guess costs you a tap rather than a corrupted week.

POWR Pro

### More than one angle

Two or more photographs of the same plate, for the meal a single frame was never going to resolve.

Every entry, free

### Micronutrients and ingredients

Vitamins and minerals with %DV where a reference value exists, and what the food is made of. On the free tier, on every entry, whichever way you logged it.

Free, before you install

### An approach you can read first

Our evidence and limitations page explains why a precise-looking result is still an estimate. No accuracy ranking is claimed here.

## What arrives on the first launch

Whatever your phone and your watch have already written to Apple Health, POWR reads on the first launch. A photo scanner rarely writes much there, so on this switch it is mostly your watch's work.

Workouts

Every session Apple Health holds, with route and heart rate where the app that recorded them saved those too. You do not retype a run another app already wrote.

Sleep

Sleep and heart history from Apple Health can provide context. Readings may be unavailable until enough recent data is present.

Heart

Resting rate, variability, and the raw signals underneath. Several of those POWR reads on the phone and sends nowhere.

Weight and body

The weigh-ins your scale or your last app wrote to Health. Permitted weight history is available alongside your new food diary.

Nutrition is the one that does not.

POWR requests 54 read types from HealthKit and nutrition is not among them. It writes your meals to Health and never reads anyone else's in, and there is no importer for an export file. The diary starts on install day. The full accounting is on /switch.

## A review step does not make an estimate exact

Editing the visible items can catch mistakes, but it cannot reveal every hidden ingredient or reconstruct a portion you do not know. An accepted draft is still an estimate.

If the photo leaves too much uncertainty, use a label, search result, or manual entry when that gives you a better record. You do not have to accept the first result just to finish logging.

## FAQ

### Which one is more accurate?

This page will not claim it. Both apps estimate from a photograph, published accuracy figures are measured on different data and different plates, and none of them tells you anything about your dinner. What POWR commits to is narrower: you see the estimate, you can correct it, and nothing counts until you do.

### What happens when it gets a meal wrong?

You edit it. Items, portions, and totals are all editable in the draft before it saves, and an entry can be re-analysed afterwards. The correction is yours and it sticks.

### Is photo logging free?

No. Photo logging, chat, insights, and the coach's read are POWR Pro. Barcode scanning, database search, manual entry, and the full nutrition breakdown on every entry are free and unmetered.

### Can I import my history?

No. POWR has no importer, and nutrition is a category it writes to Apple Health rather than reads from it. Workouts, sleep, heart, and weight come across through Health.

### Is there an Android app?

No. POWR is iPhone only. An Android app is on the roadmap rather than in the current release.
