Same camera. More underneath.

A photo scanner turns a plate into a number. This page is about what else that photograph could have told you, what POWR charges for the camera, and what it does not charge for at all.

What you can record in POWR

Nutrient detail is available on free entries. Using the camera to create an entry requires Pro.

Every entry, free

Vitamins and minerals

The same plate, read for micronutrients as well as calories, with %DV where a reference value exists. Not a premium row and not a weekly digest.

Every entry, free

Ingredient-level data

What the food is made of, not only what it totals. It is the reason the coach can say anything about a meal beyond how much of it there was.

Free, before you install

An approach you can read first

Before trying AI logging, read how we describe evidence and uncertainty. A photo estimate is a draft, not a verified measurement of the meal.

POWR Pro

Photo logging

Point the camera, review the estimate, then it counts. Two or more angles when one frame will not do. This is the paid part, and this page is not going to bury it.

What arrives on the first launch

Whatever your phone and your watch have already written to Apple Health, POWR reads on the first launch. A photo scanner rarely writes much there, so on this switch it is mostly your watch's work rather than your last app's.

Workouts

Every session Apple Health holds, with route and heart rate where the app that recorded them saved those too. You do not retype a run another app already wrote.

Sleep

Sleep and heart history from Apple Health can provide context. Readings may be unavailable until enough recent data is present.

Heart

Resting rate, variability, and the raw signals underneath. Several of those POWR reads on the phone and sends nowhere.

Weight and body

The weigh-ins your scale or your last app wrote to Health. Permitted weight history is available alongside your new food diary.

Nutrition is the one that does not.

POWR requests 54 read types from HealthKit and nutrition is not among them. It writes your meals to Health and never reads anyone else's in, and there is no importer for an export file. The diary starts on the day you install it. The full accounting is on /switch.

Check the food, not just the total

A plausible calorie number can still come from the wrong food or portion. The useful review is item by item: what was identified, how much is recorded, and what the photo could not show.

You can correct the draft before saving it. On days you do not want to use the camera, barcode scanning, search, manual entry, and saved meals remain free alternatives.

What is free and what Pro adds is on pricing. iPhone only.

FAQ

No. Photo logging, chat, insights, and the coach's read are POWR Pro. Barcode scanning, database search, manual entry, and the full nutrition breakdown on every entry are free and unmetered. Pricing has every row of it.
No. POWR has no importer, and it does not read nutrition out of Apple Health — nutrition is a category POWR writes to Health rather than reads from it. Your diary starts on install day. What moves and what does not covers the rest.
It estimates from the images and information you provide. Photos can miss ingredients and portions, so POWR shows an editable draft before saving. Review it rather than treating the result as a measured calorie count.
Probably. If a single number under a photograph is the whole job, a scanner does that with less app around it. POWR is built for the person who wants to know what was in the food, not only how much of it there was.
No. POWR is iPhone only. An Android app is on the roadmap rather than in the current release.
